TABLE OF CONTENT

Canva is a great and versatile design tool, but it’s definitely not for everything. If you’ve tried to create custom landing pages with it or, even worse, personalize them in every detail or optimize, you’re probably aware that it’s not the right address. Thus, many ask what is the best Canva alternative for landing pages that retains its advantages (user-friendly interface, much creative power, and lots of templates) and overcomes its drawbacks (limited customization options, no analytic and optimization tools and minimal integration capabilities). In this post, we answer their questions!

Below, we compare the features, prices, pros, and cons of Canva and its best alternative in 2024: Landingi! We analyze user feedback on both platforms collected from G2, GetApp and Trustpilot!

If you’re already familiar with Canva’s landing page builder, you can jump directly to the Landingi section. Below, you’ll find a concise summary of the key features and pricing for both platforms.

Let’s dive in!

Make your sections smartable and let go of mundane manual tasks with Smart Sections! An easy way to manage bulk changes.

Canva

Canva, founded in 2012 by Melanie Perkins, Cliff Obrecht, and Cameron Adams, is headquartered in Sydney, Australia. The company is acclaimed for its user-friendly graphic design platform, which empowers users to create professional-quality visuals without requiring advanced design skills. Over the years, Canva has amassed a substantial global user base, highlighting the strong confidence in its innovative design tools and continuous expansion. The platform is frequently chosen by individuals, small businesses, and large enterprises alike.

What is Canva?

Canva is a graphic design tool that allows users to create, edit, and customize a wide array of visual content, including social media graphics, presentations, posters, and more, without needing design expertise. It offers features like drag-and-drop design elements, a vast library of templates, and a range of customizable assets such as fonts, images, and icons. Canva also integrates with various other tools and platforms, making it a comprehensive solution for all design-related needs, suitable for both personal and professional use. Not everyone now that the company also offers a landing page builder, which has become more and more popular last time.

Why People are Using Canva?

People are using Canva due to its popularity related to its ease of use, wide range of design tools, accessibility for beginners and professionals alike, and the free version (which is quite rare in versatile design tools niche). For a more detailed list of Canva advantages just take a look below (only pros repeated in many reviews counted):

  • user-friendly, drag-and-drop editor for building a vast array of visual and marketing assets (from images, through cards, ads, ebooks, to landing pages),
  • ability to create stunning designs (even if the customization features are somewhat limited compared to Photoshop),
  • thousands of templates for different graphic elements (landing pages, videos, forms, buttons, icons, etc.),
  • extensive library of free stock photos for non-commercial and commercial use,
  • a bunch of team collaboration features.

Makes website landing creation very easy to accomplish, even for someone who is not overly tech-savvy. I can also easily add text and features to my images for marketing” (Verified User, 2023, G2)

What are Canva Disadvantages?

Common Canva disadvantages include limited page customization options, overusing chatbots in the support, and moving the most powerful features and templates to paid plans. The full list of disadvantages mentioned by users on review sites is as follows (only drawbacks appearing in multiple reviews are included):

  • limited design flexibility that makes it difficult to create professional page designs, especially very custom ones,
  • advanced features and professionally designed templates are available on paid plans only (limited capabilities of free version),
  • it sometimes gets clunky (mainly while using it on mobile devices),
  • poor support based on AI bots instead of human interaction (solving complicated issues is sometimes challenging),
  • lack of analytics or even simple dashboards for tracking user data (sole design-creation tool).

It has a clunky interface that doesn’t allow for any great level of customization or refinement…” (Verified Reviewer, 2023, GetApp)

Canva Key Features

Canva’s key features comprise tools for creating and editing visual elements and landing pages, a variety of templates for various assets, and extensive AI solutions for speeding up design work.

Solid Landing Page Builder

Landing page builder by Canva is integrated into their classic editor, and there are very few differences or advanced features added like the option to publish the project online. That said, you build landing pages in the graphic design software, which has either pros and cons.

Pros of Canva Landing Page Builder

On the one hand, you can integrate your Canva graphic projects or creations into the page layout, and you have all the visual content for your pages in the same tool, so typically, everything is compatible.

You can customize almost every pixel on your pages, which is great if you aim to create a very custom landing page with sophisticated images or animations (thorough customization doesn’t, unfortunately, pertain to web functions). It can turn out to be a bullseye if you have, e.g., an art portfolio landing page.

If you are familiar with Canva you probably know it has a very intuitive drag-and-drop editor with many pre-made elements ready to use in the project (buttons, lines, shapes, icons and lots of others). It’s for sure the area where it surpasses all of the landing page builders available in the market.

Other advantages are page templates and AI tools, but we’ll cover them separately a bit later.

Cons of Canva Landing Page Builder

Let’s now shift to the downsides. Canva’s editor lacks many features that are common in landing page builders. Three are particularly important.

The first one is a lack of a mobile editor. You cannot build, customize or adjust your pages in a mobile view. What you create in the desktop view will be exactly what you have on a mobile version. It’s not perfect as the mobile UX requires a different approach and additional tweaks to make the key elements better placed or more visible. Also, you won’t build in Canva AMP landing pages (or “accelerated mobile pages”), as there are no tools for mobile optimization. These days, when in many industries the lion’s share of traffic comes from mobile devices, building mobile-first landing pages is a must.

The second stain on the record is the lack of SEO features (except for ALT parameters for images). This means you will struggle with rank issues. What’s the point of publishing a great-looking website if no one can find it? Of course, you can do the on-page SEO by optimizing the copy placed on your page in external tools, but without fundamentals, it can be insufficient (especially if your industry is very competitive).

The third drawback is no analytics tools at all. No customizable dashboards for tracking detailed conversion metrics with some basic filters (device type, regions, etc.), no simple A/B testing, not to mention user behavior or data tracking.

The fourth weak spot is that you cannot use advanced technical functions like incorporating custom codes to your sites or managing more thoroughly publication options (e.g., creating a WordPress site would be a hard nut to crack…).

Lastly, most of the element templates are available on paid plans only.

Awesome Landing Page Templates

Undoubtedly, templates are the domain where Canva shines, offering over 100 fully customizable designs for different page types and industries.

Kits look fresh, light and appealing and even picky users will find what they are looking for.

Two minor inconveniences are the lack of filters (to search more quickly) and the fact that most of the templates require a paid subscription.

What’s very useful, Canva gives you page layout schemes that are in line with the chosen template. This way you can easily add to the created pages new sections with elements distributed properly for the section types like pricing, testimonials, etc. The background color is set automatically to be the same as in the template.

Canva Magic Toolset

Canva also develops its extensive AI toolkit, currently including tools for editing visuals and creating written content.

In the first area, you can use “magic grab” for redesigning images (resizing, repositioning, changing background), “magic edit” for applying automatic changes based on your prompts (e.g., “change the jacket color on the picture), “magic eraser” for removing unwanted details or distractions, and “magic animate” to use motion.

In the copy domain, “magic write” is able to generate text for your images, headlines, ads, pages and whatever you wish. You can change the tone of voice, summarize longer copy pieces, and rephrase sentences.

The output quality is average, yet it depends not only on the tool functions but also on the provided input data (more details and more precise requests, more quality as a result).

Overall, effects are not so impressive as in the Landingi or Unbounce competitive tools, but are a bit better than in the majority of other AI generators integrated into the landing page building or marketing platforms. The output copy is well-targeted but sometimes too generic and there are too many similarities.

Canva Integrations

The integrations of Canva include email marketing platforms (e.g. MailChimp), social media (among others: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter), management and workflow tools (such as Monday.com or Asana), a lot of creative tools (Mockups, LottieFiles, TypeCraft and many more), HR apps (e.g. Dropbox, Powerpoint, Box) and a few other tool types.

Except for HubSpot, there are no possible connections with popular CRMs. Also, very few apps for collecting and managing leads and form integrations. This makes Canva hardly usable as a landing page platform (not only as a landing page builder), if we care about marketing effectiveness.

Canva Pricing & Plans

Canva offers a free plan and three paid plans: “Pro” is for US $15 per month ($120 if billed yearly), “Team” costs $10 per month ($100 if billed yearly) requiring separate payments for a minimum 3 people, and “Enterprise” is for a custom price set with sales during individual consultations.

Landingi – Best Canva Alternative

Since its founding in 2013 by Błażej Abel, Landingi has operated from Gliwice, Poland, while maintaining a global reach. The company excels in offering comprehensive digital marketing solutions, focusing on the creation and optimization of landing pages. Landingi has garnered significant international interest, reflecting a strong belief in its growth potential and business approach. Its innovation in the field has earned the company various awards and industry accolades. The platform appears in most of the top builders ranks throughout the web, including ones created by reputable companies like G2 or Zapier.

What is Landingi?

Landingi is the landing page building platform helping businesses create and optimize landing pages (also one page websites, portfolio sites, etc.) to maximize conversions throughout digital marketing campaigns. It features drag-and-drop editing, A/B testing, advanced analytics, AI functions, and integrations with numerous marketing tools. Its purpose is to offer a comprehensive toolkit for efficient lead generation, boosting conversion rates, and driving online sales.

Why People are Using Landingi?

People are using Landingi because of its intuitive drag-and-drop builder, which simplifies the creation of attractive, conversion-focused pages and other digital assets like pop-ups, forms, or even full standalone websites. Users also value the strong customization options, extensive library of pre-designed templates, and a wide array of tools including ones for A/B testing, analytics, and continually evolving AI features for multiple marketing purposes. Below is a list of the platform’s key advantages based on reviews from G2, GetApp, and TrustPilot (only commonly repeated pros included):

  • one of the best landing page builders in the digital marketing field, aiding users in the creation of many assets (one page sites, pop-ups, forms, sections, lightboxes, etc.),
  • 300+ landing page templates for different industries, business types and campaign goals,
  • professional human support (no bots),
  • wide and well-developed analytics (dashboards, A/B/x testing, microconversions and user behavior tracking),
  • a specialized plan for agencies and large enterprises, offering advanced account management options, Smart Sections, and a suite of other high-end features.
  • easy integration with other marketing tools (marketing automation software, email platforms, social media apps, SMS marketing tools, etc.),
  • ongoing enhancements and new functionalities for core features.

Landingi offers an intuitive interface that allows for quick and easy creation of attractive landing pages. I particularly appreciate the extensive template library, which enables even those without design experience to craft professional-looking pages. Additionally, the flexibility of the editing tools allows for customization of every page element to suit individual needs…” (Mateusz D., G2, 2023)

What are Landingi Disadvantages?

There are only a few minor disadvantages of Landingi, like the interface needing some time to get used to, limited video and animation editing capabilities, and the necessity of some mobile version adjustments. It’s really hard to find purely negative reviews for Landingi, but we can encounter a few important improvement suggestions and drawbacks mentioned in positive reviews. The key ones are presented below (only cons included in at least a few comments/reviews are listed):

  • it takes a while to learn the interface and use all the platform’s features smoothly,
  • the auto-generated mobile view requires some adjustments before being ready for launch,
  • there are only a few basic options for customizing videos and animations,
  • adding a domain process could be simpler.

Adding a domain was a little complex, but I attribute that to my skills and not the software.” (Jessica T., 21 Nov 2023, G2)

Landingi Key Features

Landingi’s core features include a user-friendly drag-and-drop builder, an extensive template library with over 400 customizable kits for various assets, A/B testing, Smart Sections, EventTracker, and several AI-driven functions. All of these have the potential to leverage the efficiency of marketing campaigns and increase conversion rates.

The Best Landing Page Builder in 2024

Landingi boasts the professional landing page builder considered by Semrush the best one in the digital marketing field. It offers a wide range of personalization options, allowing you to create not just basic sites from templates, but also really unique custom landing pages.

Moreover, while it’s called a “landing page builder,” you can use it to create various digital marketing assets. This includes microsites, micro web pages, portfolio and author sites, forms, pop-ups, and lightboxes. The page creation elements available in Landingi include:

  • text widget,
  • forms (with a set of templates),
  • buttons and payment buttons,
  • images, icons, and effects,
  • videos and animations,
  • countdown timers,
  • custom codes, and more.

Landingi provides a wide array of section templates that can be incorporated into any landing page you design. These kits include sections such as about pages, portfolios, benefits, services, numbers, testimonials, forms, headers, footers, contact details, counters, ebooks, features, opening hours, products, pricing, teams, thank you pages, and videos. You can construct your pages from these pre-made elements and then customize them to align with your brand identity and marketing objectives, which is definitely quicker than creating section by section completely from scratch.

Landingi also offers Smart Sections, a feature that allows users to implement and modify individual sections on multiple pages with just a few clicks.

Another valuable tool is the mobile view editor, which enables the creation of mobile-optimized landing pages. Users can adjust element sizes, visibility, and placement or generate a new mobile layout proposal with a single click, streamlining the process and saving time.

Hundreds of Landing Page Templates

With a collection exceeding 300 template kits, Landingi presents a much wider range of options than its competitors. The templates are categorized by purpose, industry, and color, allowing users to effortlessly discover the ideal match for their particular needs.

Of course, as mentioned before, more advanced or/and demanding users can create landing pages from zero and control the tiniest details of the process.

What’s more, Landingi also offers over 100 templates for other digital assets, such as pop-ups and forms (or sections, but I covered it earlier).

AI-driven Solutions

Landingi is equipped with advanced AI tools, including a copy generator powered by the latest ChatGPT, perfect for targeted content, an SEO console, and a basic image editor.

The AI Assistant utilizes predefined prompts to generate precise, customized copy that aligns with your specific expectations. By inputting information about your company, target audience, page goal and tone of voice, you can quickly create complete content for your pages, from concise, catchy headlines to long product descriptions. The generated output need sometimes a bit of refinement for perfection, but it’s overall quality exceeds what most of the builders already offer in their AI packages.

Noteworthy, the platform allows you to produce content in various languages, which helps you save on translation costs and effort.

Finally, if the first output doesn’t meet your expectations, the “regenerate” feature provides an instant alternative to give you the choice.

Another AI function assists with SEO. The AI Assistant generates appropriate titles and meta descriptions for all your landing pages. Leaving these fields empty or filled with inadequate content can harm your Google search rankings.

Landingi is also working on its AI image editing tools. Currently, users can easily remove and change image backgrounds with one click, with more advanced features on the way.

Harness the power of AI to generate copy, edit images, and improve SEO. All within a single platform.
Save time and get one step closer to perfection.

Conversion Optimization Tools

Landingi clearly demonstrates its capabilities in the conversion optimization realm with a range of built-in testing and analytics tools. They deliver crucial data for conversion analysis, supporting informed design decisions to leverage conversion rates. External tools for CRO aren’t necessary as everything is included in the platform. Two especially valuable features in this domain are:

  • a versatile testing function that includes tools for basic A/B tests (including A/B/x testing), multivariate testing, and split testing, helping you use data to determine the most effective versions of your landing pages. This functionality supports experimentation with various elements like headlines, copy, hero images, backgrounds, and more. By pinpointing which factors positively influence conversion rates, you can make data-backed adjustments to boost performance and campaign success.
  • EventTracker offers in-depth tracking of user interactions on your landing pages, encompassing button clicks, form submissions, scrolling behavior, video engagement, and payment activities. This tool gives essential insights for analytics and serves as a solid alternative to Google Analytics for landing pages, avoiding the primary drawbacks of GA4’s like difficult configuration, reliance on third-party cookies, manual event setup, no visual maps, and no support (except for community). Below on the image are the kinds of events EventTracker can track.

Note, however, that if you prefer using Google Analytics, linking it with Landingi is uncomplicated.

Additionally, Landingi includes user-friendly dashboards and charts to monitor important metrics such as page visits and conversion rates on your landing pages.

What is EventTracker

Management Solutions for Agencies

Scalability and efficient management are key advantages for agencies, enterprises, and large businesses. These features include handling numerous pages, customizing workflows, and using sophisticated account management tools.

Landingi’s toolkit enables agencies to create multiple sub-accounts for various clients, campaigns, and site types, all managed with flexible permissions and user-friendly dashboards to ensure efficient operations.

Additionally, Landingi caters to companies needing numerous landing pages or websites for expansive marketing campaigns with specialized features. Two features are of special value here:

  • Smart Sections allow you to revise multiple landing pages at once by editing a single section, with updates automatically reflected across all pages containing that section. This is highly advantageous for large-scale marketing initiatives or managing several sales pages, saving significant time on updates.
  • The dynamic content feature, which works similarly to programmatic SEO. It delivers tailored content to diverse audiences on the same page (single URL address). For example, if you offer real estate, a potential customer in New York might see on your pages “urban apartments and lofts”, while a user in Texas might see “suburban homes and ranch properties”.

Secure and High-Performance Infrastructure

By leveraging Amazon Web Services’ cloud-based solutions, Landingi ensures top-tier website security and usability. Key security measures include two-factor authentication and the latest Re-Captcha technology, complemented by regular penetration testing from independent cybersecurity experts. This comprehensive security protocol guarantees full protection and optimal performance, making Landingi a reliable platform for major global companies like:

  • Sony,
  • Warner Bros,
  • Opera,
  • Nationale-Nederlanden,
  • DAT,
  • PayU,
  • CBRE,
  • foodWell.

Landingi Integrations

Landingi integrates smoothly with more than 170 tools, making it ideal for businesses that use a range of marketing software. The most commonly used tools it integrates with include (organized by software type):

  • tools for email marketing (like Freshmail, GetResponse, Klaviyo, MailChimp, SendFox, Constant Contact, ActiveCampaign),
  • CRMs and automations (e.g., HubSpot, Pipeline, CRM, Zoho, Keap, Brevo, ConvertKit, Thrive Coach, Firmao),
  • ecommerce platforms (BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Salesforce, Chargify, PayPal, Stripe and others),
  • support and contact tools (e.g., Freshchat, Zendesk, Constant Contact, Intercom, Convolo, WhatsApp),
  • analytic apps or platforms (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Pinterest Tag, Crazy Egg, Hotjar, Campaign Monitor, Piwik PRO, Mixpanel, TikTok Pixel),
  • ad tools (Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, etc.),
  • various different software (Zapier, ClickSend, Calendly, Booksy, Excel, Spotify, Drip, Slack, Gmail, reCAPTCHA, Airbnb, Trustpilot, and many others).

Landingi Pricing & Plans

Landingi offers a free plan and three paid plans. The ‘Free‘ plan is for free forever. The ‘Lite‘ plan is for $29 a month (or $290 per year upfront). The ‘Professional‘ plan costs $69 per month (or $684 annually). The ‘Unlimited‘ plan is for $990 monthly (but $9840 yearly). The “Lite” and “Professional” plans offer a free trial, granting access to all page creation tools at no cost initially. Each plan includes a variety of features, with the primary ones outlined below. Plans at higher tiers include all features of the less expensive plans:

  • 3,000 Credits Starter Pack to try AI Assistant

3. Professional ($69 per month or $64 if paid yearly upfront):

For businesses whose traffic or domain needs surpass the limits of the basic plans, supplementary packages are available for purchase in the add-on store. Beyond it, the store provides an array of other tools that can assist in streamlining daily tasks and improving overall productivity.

Why Landingi is Best Canva Alternative?

Landingi is the best Canva alternative for landing pages due to its more complex and more advanced landing page builder, more extensive page customization options and numerous other features for conversion optimization (A/B testing, EventTracker, AI Assistant).

Canva excels in the design process and tools and may be a perfect fit for graphic designers (whose primary goal is to create graphics), but page design requires many additional functions that are missing in Canva, like, among others, comprehensive SEO tools, mobile version editing, integrations with marketing tools or campaign management (concerns especially multi-page campaigns).

If you’re still unsure which tool to choose, just register and build a free landing page in Landingi and then try to repeat the process in Canva. Publish both sites, craft your content with their AI tools and check the optimization capabilities. This way you’ll be able to assess the analyzed platforms first-hand, which will give you a better idea of whether to opt for a paid plan or continue your search.
